JEE Main 2020 Exam Date, Schedule: The National Testing Agency will conduct the JEE Main January examination from January 6 to 11, 2020 and the Jee Main April exams from April 9 to 13. NTA on announcing JEE Main 2020 Schedule has announced that the application process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture colleges across India starts from September 2 (Monday). Candidates can apply at jeemain.nic.in or nta.ac.in.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form

JEE Main examination will be mandatory for foreign-nationals seeking admissions to NITs, IIITs and other government-funded engineering colleges in India. Jee Main exam will be held twice a year. This first session will be held in January and second in April.

JEE Main 2020 examination will be computer-based. JEE Main 2020 Application Form can be filled from September 2nd onwards. The Jee Main registration for the January 2020 session ends on September 30 and the admit cards will be available for download on December 6. The JEE Main 2020 result will be released on January 31.

Jee Main application process for the April 2020 session starts from February 7 and ends on March 7, 2020. The admit cards can be downloaded from March 16 and the JEE Main April 2020 result will be released on April 30.

After both the January and April exams are over, a consolidated rank list will be released. Also, separate lists constituting of percentile score will be released. Indian candidates who secure a rank in top 2,45,000 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced making way for admission to IITs. The DASA rank list will be released separately.

Around 10 lakh candiates are expected to appear for JEE Main 2020 examination. Last year, a total of 9,29,198 students registered for the JEE Main in January and 9,35,741 students appeared for the entrance test in April session, as per the NTA official data.

JEE Main 2020 is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) subject to the condition that the students must have secured at least 75% marks in the CBSE 12th 2020 board examinations or other state board examinations, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. The qualifying marks are 65% in the 12th class examination for SC/ST candidates.

NTA JEE Main January 2020 syllabus

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the syllabus for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – a national-level test for admission to engineering colleges. Candidates can check the detailed JEE Main 2020 syllabus at the official websites, jeemain.nic.in or nta.ac.in.

JEE Main is held for engineering as well as architecture aspirants. The engineering candidates have to appear for paper 1 which consists of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Architecture candidates have to appear in paper 2, as well as in an additional aptitude test or drawing paper.

NTA JEE Main Weightage

While there is no weightage given for physics, chemistry and mathematics as notified by the NTA, but while giving preference, in case two or more students have secured same marks, then mathematics is given top most priority and then to physics and then chemistry. In case the marks of students still remain the same, priority is then given to the student who is elder.

The engineering exam consist of 90 questions, four marks each. JEE Main is for 360 marks and for every wrong answer one mark is deducted.

JEE Main Syllabus 2020-2021

Mathematics will include questions on integral calculus, limit, continuity and differential ability, sets, relations and functions, complex numbers and quadratic equations, matrices and determinants, permutations and combinations, mathematical induction, binomial theorem, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, mathematical induction, three dimensional geometry, vector algebra, statics and probability, trigonometry and mathematical reasoning.

Physics paper is divided into section A and B. Section A carries weightage of 80 per cent while B carries weghtage of 20 per cent. Section A syllabus includes, physics and measurement, kinematics, laws of motion, work energy and power, rotation motion, current electricity, electrostatics, gravitation, thermodynamics, kinetic theory of gases, oscillation and waves, magnetic effects current and magnetism, communication system, optics, electromagnetic induction and alternating currents, electronic devices, optics, atoms and nuclei, dual nature of matter and radiation. Section B includes experimental skills.

Chemistry syllabus includes state of matter, chemical bonding and molecular structure, atomic structure, redox reaction and electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, solutions, chemical thermodynamics, equilibrium, surface chemistry, d and f block elements, hydrogen, block elements, classification of elements and periodicity in priorities, co-ordination compounds, environmental chemistry, organic compounds containing halogens, hydrocarbons, environmental chemistry, polymers, biomolecules, chemistry in everyday life, principles related to practical chemistry.

Aptitude test syllabus has two subsections, awareness section wherein questions based in buildings, materials, persons, visualising, analytical reasoning, mental ability and different dimensional objects will be asked. In other section, three dimensional and perceptions, sketching of scenes and activity for the memory of urbanscape will be tested.

JEE Main 2020 application form process starts September 2. The exam will be held from January 6 to 11. As foreign nationals are also expected to appear for the JEE Main this year, the number of candidates is likely to go higher than 10 lakh. Earlier, a total of 9,29,198 students registered for the JEE Main in January and 9,35,741 students appeared for the entrance test in April session, as per the official data provided by the NTA.
