FYJC Admission 2019: Change Caste category in forms


After announcement by the Bombay High Court upholding the reservation for Marathas in education and jobs, the Education Minister on Friday announced that students from the community who had opted for general category while filling application form for admission to Class XI could opt for the Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) category.

There are some changes that has been made for online admission process Class XI timetable, Education Minister Ashish Shelar extended the deadline for submission of applications from June 29 to July 4. The first merit list is now delayed by a week and thus the fyjc first merit list 2019 is to be released on July 12, fyjc second merit list 2019 on July 22 and fyjc third merit list 2019 on August 1.

Many students did not choose SEBC and EWS category in the fyjc online admission form as they were not sure of the court ruling and non-availability of income proof certificates. Uptill now, only 13.3% applications have been received for SEBC category and onluy 9.07% applications received for EWS category.

Mr. Shelar said, “The SEBC have 12% and Economically Weaker Sections have 10% confirmed reservation. As many students from these categories have filled forms from general category, there would be large number of seats from these categories remaining vacant. So any student can change their preference who now want to take benefit of these categories. They will get the required facilities.

An undertaking by a parent on plain paper will also be accepted as a document in place of caste certificate. The same is applicable for EWS category students. Just that the students need to produce the caste and income certificates within three months of college admission. The proforma for the undertaking will be made available on the official website.
