GATE 2018: Detailed Information


Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination on the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.

GATE is administered jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (namely, IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur,Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee).

As per the official website, this is the detailed information about GATE 2018:

  • IIT Guwahati is the organising institute for GATE 2018
  • The GATE 2018 exam date is on February 3, February 4, February 10, and February 11
  • GATE 2018 will be held on 23 subjects (also referred to as "papers")
  • Examination for all the 23 subjects (papers) will be Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • A candidate can appear only in any one paper of the GATE examination
  • Some papers in GATE 2018 would be held in multiple sessions. Though, a candidate can appear for the examination in one session only
  • The GATE 2018 admit card would be available only on GOAPS website. Candidates can download their GATE 2018 admit card from the official website. Candidates must note that no printed copy of the admit cards will be sent to the candidates.
  • The GATE score 2018 would reflect the relative performance level of the candidate in a particular subject, which is quantified based on the several years of examination data. The score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results.
