CAT 2017 Official Notification, CAT 2017 Important Dates


The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Lucknow has published the Common Admission Test 2017 (CAT 2017) official notification. As per the CAT 2017 notification, the IIMs will conduct the computer-based Common Admission Test 2017 (CAT 2017) on November 26 at 140 test centres across India in two sessions.

The CAT 2017 entrance examination is conducted for admission to 20 IIMs and more than 100 institutes across India:

CAT 2017 Centres: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Jammu, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam

IIM will also release a tutorial to understand the format of the CAT 2017 test on October 18. Candidates must work on these CAT 2017 tutorials available on the website well in advance.

CAT 2017 Important dates:

CAT 2017 Registration:  August 9
Last date to apply for CAT 2017 Exam: September 20
CAT 2017 Admit card release date: October 18
CAT 2017 Exam Date: November 26
CAT 2017 Results: Second week of January 2018

CAT 2017 Admission process:

The process of selection includes Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI).

The performance in CAT 2017 examination really matters in the whole process. IIMs could also take into account previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs for short listing and ranking of candidates at different stages of the CAT admission process.

Normalisation of CAT scores in 2017:

CAT 2017 would be held in two sessions:
Two different test forms shall be administered in two test sessions
In order to ensure fairness and equity in comparison of performances of the candidates across different test sessions, the scores of the candidates would be subjected to a process of 'Normalisation'
The 'Normalisation' process shall adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms
After normalisation across different forms, the scores shall be further normalized across different sections
