JAM 2017 Exam Date, IIT JAM 2017 Registration


The IIT Admission Test (JAM) 2017 registration is underway and the last date to apply for IIT JAM is October 6. JAM 2017 is scheduled to be held on February 12, 2017 (Sunday) in two sessions as computer based test (CBT).

Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) conducts the IIT JAM 2017 exam in order to provide admission in MSc and other post-BSc courses. JAM exam is held by participating colleges on a rotational basis. This time IIT Delhi is conducting the exam. IIT JAM 2017 exam will be held in online mode. MSc course admissions test will be a computer based test (CBT).

IIT JAM 2017 Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification:

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 55 per cent aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for the General/OBC-NCL category candidates and at least 50 per cent aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for the SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

Based on the performance in JAM 2017, for each test paper, separate merit lists will be prepared for general (GEN), OBC non-creamy layer (OBC-NCL), SC, ST, and persons with disability (PwD) category candidates.

JAM 2017 Exam pattern

IIT JAM 2017 is of 3 hrs duration for all the seven papers
The medium for all the test papers will be English
A total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks will be given.
Full paper is divided into three sections, A, B and C and all the sections are compulsory

Division of sections

Section A:
There would be 30 multiple choice questions (MCQ)
10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each
Each MCQ type question has four choices where only one choice is the correct answer

Section B: 
Total 10 multiple select questions (MSQ) carrying two marks each
Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choices that are correct out of the four given choices

Section C
Total 20 numerical answer type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each.
