CSIR Net/JRF Dec 2016 Exam Date, CSIR Net 2016 Notification


The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will held the Joint CSIR-UGC Test tentatively on December 18, 2016, for determining the eligibility of the Indian candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET), in areas falling under the faculty of science and technology.

The UGC NET registrations are currently on and candidates who wish to apply can do so online before September 9. Two separate merit lists will be released, one that includes the names of candidates qualifying for the award of JRF -NET and the second, of candidates qualifying the eligibility test for Lectureship (NET), on the basis of their performance in the test.

The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

The UGC NET Test will be held in these subjects:

Chemical Sciences
Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences
Life Sciences
Mathematical Sciences
Physical Sciences

UGC NET Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification:

Candidates must have a degree of MSc/integrated MSc/ BS - 4-years/ Btech/Bpharma/MBBS
Must have got at least 55 per cent marks in the qualifying degree for general and OBC (non creamy layer) candidates and 50 per cent for SC/ST/PH/visually handicapped candidates

UGC NET Syllabus:
The question paper shall be divided into three parts, (A, B and C) as per the syllabus and scheme of the exam.

Part A
It contain questions related to general aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc.

Part B
It contain subject-related conventional multiple choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.

Part C
It contain higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.

UGC NET 2016 Important dates:

Last date for depositing challan is September 8.
Last date for online application submission is September 9.
Last date for submitting hard copy of the form is September 16.

CSIR conducts the Joint CSIR UGC NET, a national level entrance examination in the field of science including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences.
